~ Crystals in Love and Relationships ~

Many stones and crystals are used to express love, be it gently romantic or powerfully erotic, to heal a broken heart, attract a sole mate, or to help aid in a healthy relationship. In this column, we will look at some of the crystals that will help aid in love and relationships (relationships in general: friendship, romantic, family, etc).

Rose Quartz is known to help heal the heart chakra, and also known to be very soothing when worn over the heart. These crystals have a gentle energy that helps you to accept and love yourself, which is something you need to do before you can truly love someone else. I use Rose Quartz as an example because it is a popular crystal that you can easily pick up at a variety of stores (I’ve mostly notice them at souvenirs stores near state parks), but most of its main purposes are to aid in matters of the heart. There are a number of other crystals and stones that can help aid in matters of love and relationships such as:

  • Aventurine – A type of quartz that has sometimes been confused with aventurine feldspar, amazonite, and jade. In the matters of love, it is use to attract love. Green Aventurine helps activates, protect and clears the heart chakra, and enhancing the ability to attract love and increasing empathy.
  • Emerald – A variety of beryl colored by chromium whose crystals are hexagonal in shape. In the matters of love, it is used to attract love. It helps to reveal the truth, especially regarding a lover, and protects against all enchantments.
  • Ruby – A type of gem-quality corundum with its crystals found as six-sided prisms. It is used to represent passionate love; in esoteric terms it symbolizes spiritual love reached through transformation. It cleans the chakras from the heart downward.
  • Rose Quartz – A type of quartz that is light to strong pink, opaque to translucent, and somewhat brittle. It is sometimes called the “love stone”; it eases emotional and sexual imbalances, while helping to clear out stored anger, resentment, guilt fear, and jealousy. It can aid in the development of compassion and love and is very useful in learning how to give and receive love. This crystal is associated with the heart or fourth chakra for comfort and healing. It will help one to forgive and love oneself. With all that it does for love, one could see why it is also known as the “love stone” or the “stone of unconditional love” and why it is so widely preferred then the other crystals.

Help in Finding a Soul Mate

Practically everyone is looking for there soul mate, whether they want admit it or not. It’s a universal feeling that there is someone else out there with whom you could love and share your deepest thoughts and feelings with. When I was younger, of course I have heard of the concept of “soul mates” but didn’t really believe it at the time, or at least that I thought that it didn’t exist for me, and it wasn’t part of my goals at the time so I was never looking for it. But of course when I wasn’t looking for a mate, I ran into my soul mate. It didn’t take long for her and I to connect, and we did end up marring each other and are still married to this day.

For some people, it doesn’t really work like this, and others it does. Some can spend an entire lifetime looking for their soul mate, only to find them in the next life. Finding your soul mate can be a tricky and frustrating ordeal. But don’t give up hope yet, there are things that you can do and use to help aid in the process, like using crystals.

As mentioned earlier, Rose Quartz will help it’s possessor love and forgive themselves which will help open the way to attracting a soul mate. Green Aventurine will help activate, protect and clear heart chakras, which will enhance the ability to attract love and increase empathy. Combining other crystals and stones with these two could help the process of finding your soul mate. Like combining an Amethyst crystal with a Rose Quartz Crystal will help moderate the attraction. Agate, aquamarine, and moonstone can also help moderate attraction.

Improving your relationships

No matter how good a relationship may be going, there might be something underneath that is secretly brewing. Some form of negative energy that is just lurking in one or both partners in the relationship. There can be a number of reasons why this energy is lurking about. The other person could have done something that bothers you, or maybe there is some emotion that you want to tell the other person just to afraid of telling them because you are afraid it will hurt them or you. This just my observation from my own experiences and from others, there can be a number of reasons why this issue has occurred between the both of you. But this is no reason to get discouraged; crystals can also help create a positive relationship for both you and your mate. As mentioned in previous articles (“Intro to Crystals” and “Cleansing and Charging Crystals”), crystals absorb and emit both positive and negative energies. With the ability to bring in some positive energy into the relationship can help out a lot.

Crystals that are used toward relationships can help draw in qualities that are lacking, communication, strengthen love, and even bring passion to the relationship. They have also been known to help change a dysfunctional relationship into a healthy, happy one. For best results, place the crystal near your heart or by/under the bed as well. Now lets get to some of the Crystals that could help you out with your relationship.

  • Tourmaline – Often confused with other precious gems because of its great variety of colors. It has the greatest range of colors of all gemstones: colorless, pink, green, blue, brown, and all intermediate hues. Green Tourmaline – Helps in opening your life to new friends and new experiences. It will also help you recognize a problem so you can resolve it constructively.
Watermelon Tourmaline – This will help remove imbalances and guilt, conflicts and confusions. I am sure that you are wondering why I’m I telling you about this stone to help with relationships? Well certain imbalances and guilt will make a person close off from the other. When this happens there is lack of communication, which will harm the relationship. Same with conflicts and confusion, arguments can make or break relationships and how do arguments come about? Usually some type of conflict of interest will come about and neither party wants to give in to the other, or sometimes when people get scared because they are confused and don’t understand you or the situation, they will end up resorting to anger, and mock you instead. Communication and understanding is a key factor in any relationship.
  • Ruby – A type of gem-quality corundum with its crystals found as six-sided prisms. It is used to represent passionate love; in esoteric terms it symbolizes spiritual love reached through transformation. It cleans the chakras from the heart downward.
  • Smoky Quartz – Smoky Quartz is actually clear quartz that has been naturally irradiated by the earth. In relationships, smoky quartz helps balances sexual energy and aids in fertility.
  • Geodes – There are two kinds of Geodes: hollow nodules with crystals centers or a solid stone with a center of mineral deposits. If two halves of a geode is shared between friends, the energy flow between the two halves will remain linked, which will help bring compatibility to a friendship and can also bring harmony into a community.
  • Sardonyx – A mixture of the crystalline quartz chalcedony. Also known as sardian onyx, which is a blend of sard and onyx. Sardonyx helps bring joy and commitment to a marriage and live-in relationships. Sardonyx is often associated with Virgo.
  • Lapis Lazuli – A strong blue metamorphic rock with tiny crystals of iron pyrite and off-white patches or veins of calcite. Lapis Lazuli is a great healer and purifier for the thyroid gland and the fifth, or throat chakra. It can help one see emotional issues more clearly, however, it will not calm down anyone who is over emotional.

As you can see there are a number of crystals that can help aid in you in your quest for love and a better relationship. There are also a number stones that can help aid in these tasks. But remember these crystals are to be used to help aid you in the task, you still have to do a majority of the work. I’ll give you an example, I have been carrying around a Rose Quartz for the past 2 months to helps improve my relationship with my wife. Just carrying it around has helped me see and feel other things that have been occurring for a long time, I just never saw it. By this new awareness, I was able to change how I would respond to things. So carrying around this Rose Quartz has helped my awareness of things, but I still had to do all the work of processing the information, and take the time to think or feel what is the best way to handle this where we do not ended up in a huge argument. Any kind of relationship will always require work, communications, and understandings in order for it to be successful, and crystals can help bring something these qualities to the relationship.
