Remember when you were a kid and fantasized about who you wanted to be when you “grow up”? But then, the older you got and the more experiences you had, something changed… It’s not easy to keep our childhood dreams alive.
We are trained from birth to make safe, reliable choices. In school we are encouraged to conform and not to color outside the lines; the media shows us how we should dress, where to vacation, and who we should emulate.
On the other hand, do you remember a time when you went off the map and did something completely new and crazy even, how did that feel by comparison? It’s the uncharted experiences which truly help us “create” ourselves. When we listen to the inner nudge to do something different and go in a way that intuition leads us… those are the moments that define who we are. We shouldn’t lose sight of that.
We always have the chance of not just being the result of our society, being the image of what others think we should be or letting our bad experiences shape us into something we are not. We could make the conscious decision of creating who we want to be… just like when we were kids 😉
